Sony Ericsson Xperia Active Unveiled

Sony Ericsson yesterday unveiled the Xperia Active, an offering from Sony Ericsson claiming to be targeted at users with an active lifestyle.

According to Sony Ericsson, the Xperia Active will come pre-loaded with sports apps to enable users to track their fitness levels.  These apps will include real time heart rate and pulse monitoring while iMapMyFitness will monitor day to day performance with Facebook inside Xperia allowing users to share their progress and experiences with friends.

Sony Ericsson's Global Product Marketing Manager Frank Månsson said:

"Xperia™ active is the ultimate smartphone for an active life. Not only is it packed with all the features and applications consumers need for a worry free mobile life, it also comes with a set of accessories that make it fun and easy for them to take it everywhere, whatever their daily plans are."

In terms of a release date, Sony have stated the device will be released in Q3 most likely meaning an August release.
